About

Skies of Dreams is a hands-on aviation STEM program where high school students build a real airplane from kit to first flight.

Every Sunday in 2026, our students gather at the EAA Chapter 376 hangar in Sierra Sky Park, Fresno, to work on a Van’s RV-12iS aircraft. Under the guidance of experienced mentors, participants learn practical skills in engineering, craftsmanship, riveting, wiring, assembly, and aviation fundamentals while working as a team.

The program is completely free for accepted students ages 14–17. No prior experience is needed — just curiosity, commitment, and a willingness to learn.

What makes Skies of Dreams truly special is the ultimate goal: students who stay with the program through completion will have the opportunity to fly in the very plane they helped build. This includes discovery flights and potential flight training (at cost).

In an increasingly digital world, Skies of Dreams revives real-world, tactile learning and inspires the next generation of builders, engineers, pilots, and innovators right here in Fresno.

We are actively fundraising to keep this life-changing experience free and accessible. Every donation helps us continue giving Fresno-area youth more than a classroom education — we’re giving them the sky.
